Engagement Rings of Today's Generation

The value of engagement rings was highly associated with marriage proposals during the older generations. It has been associated tremendously to commitment and to word of honor. This means that it was not just a thing of fashion or luxury. Since the Romans, Egyptians and Ancient Chinese times, it has been valued because of their beliefs about signs, symbols and shapes. Every little thing you can see at the environment means something to them.

As we are all aware of, the kings or riches are the ones who wear it. Because of the so called arrange marriages, each rich clan have their own heirlooms that should be passed through his successors. These heirlooms are often rings- that should be given only to the chosen partner of their son or daughter. Also, these rings are simple but made of precious rare stones that can't be handed on easily.

But as time goes by everything changes. The modern era brought these kind of changes. From a simple belief, it has been liberated. Promised rings are not any more for the rich only. These rings are not made of rare stones. The most appreciated are rings made of diamonds. Some has even customized the rings' physical appearance to create more impact to its surroundings. The youth of the computer era has not believed that engagement rings can still be a way of sealing the love between two persons. Not any more eternity but a mere gift that would make a guy give to let the girl believe that he is deeply in love. This kind of belief are often the cause of divorce or broken families.

The youth can now fall in and out of love so easily. The same as engagement rings that could be given to anyone you like. Remember that like is different from love. There are times that we thought we love a person because of his/her perfection. But to share my thoughts, I believe that true love is finding perfection to an imperfect one. Find someone that you think you can't live without not because of what he/she can gave to you but because of what you can give to him/her.

Engagement rings of today's are more glamorous compared before. There are a lot of businesses that offers customization of rings. One thing is that women became more sophisticated, they now look at the design, size, stones used or brand of the ring. Usually a woman would choose rings with bigger stones and branded ones. The rings priced vary from the material used and the maker of it. This is because rings are not just ring of love or commitment but of fashion and style.

We fall in love and sometimes we fail, the generations of today are actually more vulnerable to this feeling. Love can cause suicide or mental instability. It is something that we should take seriously; the same as engagement rings. It's not just for fashion to show off or for pride. It should be given to someone who value you as the giver and not the ring as a material.
